About the condition
COVID-19 is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. The most common symptoms are fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose, fatigue, muscle and headache, and sometimes loss of smell or taste. The risk of more severe illness is higher in older adults, people with chronic conditions, and individuals with weakened immune systems. Testing is recommended when symptoms appear or after contact with an infected person; a negative result does not rule out infection, so if symptoms persist, it is worth repeating the test after 1-2 days.
Ingredients
- Test cassette
- Collection device (funnel, tube and tube tip)
- Buffer
- Biohazard bag
- Instructions for use
Instructions
Do not put anything in your mouth for at least 10 minutes before testing, including food, drinks, tobacco products and chewing gum. Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds before testing.
Sample collection
- Remove the funnel and plastic tube; attach the funnel to the tube.
- Cough deeply 3–5 times. While coughing, wear a face mask or cover your mouth and nose with a tissue, and keep away from other people.
- Gently spit oral fluid into the funnel. There should be enough fluid (without air bubbles) to reach the measurement mark. If there is not enough, repeat the sample collection.
- Place the used funnel into the biohazard bag.
Sample preparation and testing
- Open the buffer and pour its entire contents into the tube with the oral fluid. Attach the tip and gently squeeze the tube 10–15 times to mix thoroughly.
- Remove the test cassette from the sealed foil pouch and use it within one hour (best results immediately after opening). Place the cassette on a flat surface.
- Invert the tube, add 2 drops of the sample into the sample well (S) of the cassette and start the timer. Do not move the cassette.
- Read the result after 15 minutes. A result read after 20 minutes is not valid.
Results
- Negative result: only one coloured line appears in the control area (C); no line in the test area (T).
- Positive result: two coloured lines appear – in the control area (C) and in the test area (T).
- Invalid result: if the control line (C) does not appear, the result is invalid – perform a new test.
