Vaginal health test (Candida / Trichomonas / Gardnerella)

A rapid test for the qualitative detection of Candida albicans, Trichomonas vaginalis, and Gardnerella vaginalis antigens in vaginal secretions. It helps suspect the most common causative agents of vaginitis: bacterial vaginosis, vaginal candidiasis (thrush), and trichomoniasis.

Results in 15 minutes
Sample - vaginal swab
Specificity ≥ 99%

Accuracy, sensitivity and specificity

Specificity ≥ 99 % for each pathogen (clinical data according to the manufacturer's instructions):

  • Candida albicans – sensitivity 87.3 %, specificity 99.3 %, accuracy 95.0 % (n = 1047)
  • Trichomonas vaginalis - sensitivity 93.6 %, specificity 99.2 %, accuracy 98.1 % (n = 1047)
  • Gardnerella vaginalis - sensitivity 98.0 %, specificity 99.0 %, accuracy 98.9 % (n = 452)

About the condition

The most common causes of vaginitis are bacterial vaginosis (an imbalance in the vaginal microflora characterized by an overgrowth of Gardnerella and other bacteria), a fungal infection called Candida albicans (thrush), and sexually transmitted trichomoniasis. They may manifest as altered, foul-smelling discharge, itching, burning, redness, or swelling, though some women experience no symptoms. Because the symptoms of these infections are similar, a test helps identify the potential causative agent; in the event of a positive result or persistent symptoms, consult a doctor, especially during pregnancy.

Ingredients

  • test cassette
  • sterile swab
  • extraction reagent
  • package insert.

Instructions

  1. Sample collection:
  • A sterile swab is inserted into the vagina and rotated for about 20 seconds.
  • The swab is placed into the sample processing tube and the test is started immediately according to the test procedure.
  1. Test method:
  • Open the extraction tube, immediately insert the collected swab, squeeze the tube for 1 minute and rotate the swab 10 to 15 times, squeeze the swab along the tube wall and discard it. Then you will obtain the sample solution in the tube.
  • Remove the test cassette from the foil pouch and place it on a horizontal table.
  • Add 2 drops (approx. 60 μl) of the treated sample solution into each well of the test cassette, start timing, and wait for the result to appear.
  • Read the results after 15 minutes. Do not interpret the results after 20 minutes.

Results

Negative result: The control line (C) appears in the observation window, but the test line (T) is not visible.

Positive result:

Two colored lines must be visible in the observation window: the (C) line and the (T) line.

Invalid result: If the control line (C) is not visible, the test is considered invalid, regardless of whether the test line (T) is visible or not.
