The Hepatitis E (HEV) test detects antibodies against the hepatitis E virus in serum or plasma. HEV is spread through contaminated water or undercooked meat and causes acute inflammation of the liver. The test helps assess the causes of acute hepatitis, especially in pregnant women and travelers.
