What is this test?
The rapid nasopharyngeal swab test detects influenza A and B antigens, as well as the avian influenza A(H5N1) antigen separately. It is used as an aid in the suspicion of avian influenza in individuals who have had contact with sick birds or animals. A positive H5N1 result must be confirmed in a reference laboratory.
