What is this test?
The myoglobin test detects myoglobin in the blood, an early but nonspecific marker of muscle damage. When acute myocardial infarction is suspected, it is used as an adjunctive tool alongside troponin; myoglobin can also become elevated due to skeletal muscle trauma or rhabdomyolysis.
