What is this test?
The syphilis rapid test detects antibodies against Treponema pallidum, the causative agent of syphilis, in the blood. Because treponemal antibodies often persist for life, the test does not distinguish between an active and a cured infection. Used in antenatal care, STI clinics, and risk-group screening; a reactive result must be confirmed.
