What is this test?
The tetanus antibody test detects antibodies against the tetanus toxin in the blood and helps evaluate immunity to tetanus. It is used in emergency departments and traumatology to decide whether a wounded patient requires tetanus prophylaxis (vaccine or immunoglobulin) when the vaccination history is unknown.
