Male fertility test

A rapid test to help evaluate whether sperm concentration in semen reaches 15 million/ml – a normal result indicates a concentration of ≥ 15 million/ml. Result in 5 min. The test does not evaluate sperm motility and morphology, and therefore does not replace a spermogram.

Sample - semen
Results in 5 minutes
Detection level from 15mln/ml

About the condition

Infertility is considered a condition when pregnancy cannot be achieved within 12 months of regular unprotected intercourse; about half of couples are affected by the male infertility factor. A common cause is a reduced sperm count, which usually causes no symptoms. The risk can be increased by smoking, alcohol, overweight, overheating of the testicles, certain medications, and diseases. A home test helps to orientatively assess sperm concentration; if the result is low or pregnancy fails, consult a doctor for a comprehensive sperm analysis (spermogram).

Ingredients

  • Test cassettes
  • Package leaflet
  • Semen transfer tools
  • Sample dilution buffer
  • Collection cups
  • Place of work

Instructions

Read all instructions carefully before taking the test. Allow the sample to cool to room temperature (15-30 °C) before performing the test.

  1. Remove the test cassette from the sealed bag and place it horizontally on a flat surface.
  2. Take a sample of the seed in the sampling cup provided.
  3. …until the semen liquefies.
  4. Add the seed sample to the 0.1 mL mark in the provided seed transfer medium. Then add the seed sample to the sample dilution buffer vial provided.
  5. Mix the seed sample and the test solution by turning the vial up and down 5-10 times.
  6. Hold the diluted sample buffer tube upright and open the lid of the sampling tube. Invert the sample collection tube and drop 2 full drops of diluted sample (approx. 80 μL) onto the sample well (S) in the test cartridge and start the timer. Be careful to avoid air bubbles in the sample well (S). See illustration.
  7. Check the results 5 minutes after dropping the sample. Do not check the results after 10 minutes.

Results

NormalTwo coloured lines appear. One coloured line should appear in the control area (C) and the other in the test line area (T).

*NOTE: The intensity of the colour in the test line area (T) will vary depending on the concentration of SP-10 protein in the sample. Therefore, any shade in the test line area (T) should be considered normal.

AbnormalA single coloured line appears in the control area (C). No line is visible in the test line area (T).
Not validThe control line does not appear. The most likely reasons for the non-appearance of the reference line are insufficient sample quantity or an incorrect procedure. Revise the procedure and repeat the test with a new test. If the problem persists, stop using the test kit and contact your local distributor.

Remark. If for any reason the results are inconclusive or inaccurate, the test must be repeated using another test cartridge. The subject must abstain from any sexual intercourse for at least 6 days before the second test. If the result of the second test is abnormal, the results should be discussed with the doctor.

Frequently asked questions

What does a male fertility test show?

The test shows whether the sperm concentration exceeds the set limit (15 million/ml). It does not evaluate motility and morphology.

When is it worth checking male fertility?

If pregnancy is not achieved within 12 months of regular sexual intercourse (or within 6 months if the woman is over 35), it is recommended that both partners get checked.

What to do if the result is below the limit?

The result may vary, so it is worth repeating the test. For a more accurate evaluation, consult a urologist or fertility specialist for a spermogram.
