What is this test?
The CA19-9 test detects carbohydrate antigen 19-9 in the blood, a marker associated with pancreatic and bile duct tumors. It is used to monitor treatment effectiveness and disease progression, but is not suitable for cancer screening because it can also be elevated due to benign conditions such as pancreatitis or bile stasis.
