What is this test?
The stool test detects human hemoglobin and the hemoglobin-haptoglobin (Hb-Hp) complex. The Hb-Hp complex is less degraded as it passes through the intestine, thereby helping to detect bleeding from the upper gastrointestinal tract as well. It is used as an aid in evaluating gastrointestinal bleeding.
