What is this test?
The carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) test detects CEA in the blood, a marker most commonly associated with colorectal cancer. It is used to monitor treatment efficacy and recurrence, but it is not suitable for cancer screening because CEA levels can also be elevated in smokers and people with inflammatory diseases.
