The prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test detects the amount of PSA in the blood. Elevated PSA may be associated with prostate cancer, but also with benign prostatic hyperplasia or prostatitis. It is used as an aid in urology and primary care, as well as in monitoring patients after prostate cancer treatment.
